Rumin Farhana criticizes load shedding in Parliament

BNP Member of Parliament Rumin Farhana strongly criticized the government in the national parliament over the country's power crisis and frequent load shedding. She stated in parliament that the people of the country are suffering due to electricity shortages. There is no certainty about when electricity comes and goes, causing extreme dissatisfaction among the general public.

In her speech, Rumin Farhana mentioned that the government claims to have spent thousands of crores of taka on developing the power sector. However, in reality, people are not getting regular electricity. Especially in rural areas, load shedding lasts for hours. She also criticized the payment of huge sums of money as capacity charges for quick rental power plants.

She stated in parliament that due to this crisis in the power sector, businesses and agriculture, along with the general public, are facing major losses. Production in factories is being disrupted, and farmers cannot irrigate their fields on time. She alleged that instead of solving this crisis, only big claims are being made.

On the other hand, the government maintains that this temporary problem has arisen due to the rise in fuel prices in the global market. The government is trying to overcome this crisis quickly. However, common people and experts believe that a permanent solution is not possible without removing mismanagement in the power sector.
