A clash and chase counter-chase broke out between Awami League and BNP activists in the Station Road area of Jamalpur town. The tension escalated this afternoon when rallies from both parties came face-to-face. Several activists from both sides were reportedly injured in the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, activists from both parties were gathering in the town center to observe their respective party programs. At one point, an altercation broke out between the two groups, which quickly escalated into chases, counter-chases, and brickbat throwing. Police had to struggle to bring the situation under control.
Following the incident, a tense situation prevails in the area, and additional police forces have been deployed. Local BNP leaders claimed that Awami League activists attacked their peaceful rally. On the other hand, Awami League leaders denied the allegation, claiming that BNP initiated the provocation.
Police stated that the situation in the town is currently peaceful. Police patrols have been set up at key intersections to prevent any further untoward incidents. No case has been filed, and no arrests have been made yet in connection with the incident.
