Two motorcycle riders killed in truck collision in Gazipur

Two young men lost their lives in a road accident in Sreepur, Gazipur. Last night, a speeding truck hit their motorcycle from behind in the Maona area of Sreepur. The two friends fell off the motorcycle and died on the spot. The deceased were identified as local residents Sajal (22) and Akash (23).

According to local residents, Sajal and Akash were returning home on a motorcycle at night. When they reached near the Maona flyover, a freight truck coming from the opposite direction ran them over. Hearing a loud noise, locals rushed to the spot and informed the police. Upon receiving the news, the police recovered the bodies.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station stated that the truck driver and helper fled immediately after the accident. However, the police managed to seize the truck. The process of handing over the bodies without an autopsy is underway following the families' requests. Preparations are also being made to file a case.

Local residents blame reckless driving for the frequent accidents on this road. They have demanded speed limit controls and the deployment of traffic police in the area. Police said they will conduct regular drives to reduce road accidents and raise awareness among drivers.
