The Song That Changed the Destiny of 'Titanic'

'Titanic' is one of the greatest movies in Hollywood history. Released in 1997, this film won the hearts of people worldwide. However, a song played a massive role behind the immense popularity of this movie. That song was Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On." Yet, surprisingly, there was initially no plan to include this song in the movie.

The film's director, James Cameron, originally wanted only an instrumental background score throughout the movie, without any vocal songs. He was especially against having a pop song at the end of the film. But the film's composer, James Horner, had other plans. He secretly created a song with lyricist Will Jennings and contacted singer Celine Dion.

Celine Dion was also initially reluctant to sing the song. Later, at the request of her husband and manager, she recorded the demo of the song in just one take. Composer James Horner waited for the right moment. One day, when James Cameron was in a very good mood, Horner played the song for him. Cameron was so moved by the song that he agreed to include it in the movie.

Upon release, "My Heart Will Go On" created history worldwide. It became one of the best-selling physical singles of all time. It also won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. Even today, whenever the movie Titanic is mentioned, the melody of this song is the first thing that comes to people's minds.
