BSTI orders withdrawal of 10 substandard products from market

The government's standards watchdog, BSTI, has banned 10 popular products sold in the local market. Following laboratory tests that revealed substandard quality, the authority ordered the immediate removal of these items from shop shelves. Additionally, the licenses of the respective companies have been suspended.

BSTI regularly collects and tests product samples from the market. During recent tests of samples collected from open markets, 10 essential items, including mustard oil, powdered spices, drinking water, and vermicelli, were found to contain harmful elements or were produced in unhygienic conditions.

Following the decision, BSTI officials stated that no compromise would be made regarding public health safety. The accused companies have been directed to withdraw their products from the market and destroy them. The authority warned of strict legal action if the directive is ignored.

Mobile courts will conduct regular drives in markets to ensure consumers are not cheated. Experts have advised the public to remain cautious while shopping. General consumers believe that such monitoring must be strengthened to ensure safe food for everyone.
