Two massive government buildings constructed with 243 crore BDT of public tax money are currently of no use. Even after a long time since the completion of construction, the buildings remain locked. As a result, the general public is receiving no services from this project, and the expensive equipment inside is getting damaged.
According to project sources, the construction of these two buildings began a few years ago. They were built with modern facilities under a key government department at a huge cost. However, no proper planning was done beforehand on how these facilities would be operated after completion.
Local residents expressed anger, stating that keeping the buildings closed after spending so much money is nothing but a waste of public funds. On the other hand, the concerned authorities claimed that the buildings cannot be opened because the recruitment of necessary manpower and administrative approvals are still pending.
Experts suggest that before undertaking any major project, it is crucial to have a proper plan for its utilization and management. Otherwise, such waste of state resources will continue to rise. They believe high-level government intervention is needed to make these two buildings functional immediately.
