Bus services resume in Barishal after five and a half hours

Bus services in Barishal have resumed after a sudden suspension lasting five and a half hours. The suspension, which began in the morning, left thousands of commuters in distress. Following a meeting between the local administration and transport leaders in the afternoon, the decision was made to resume operations.

According to local sources, no buses left the terminals in the morning, and incoming buses were also barred from entering Barishal. Since the suspension was announced without prior notice, long-distance passengers found themselves stranded at various counters. Women, children, and the elderly suffered the most, with many forced to pay extra fares for alternative transport.

Transport owners and worker leaders stated that the temporary suspension was in protest of certain administrative decisions and internal issues. Later, an emergency meeting was held with senior administrative officials. Once assurances were given to resolve the issues, the workers withdrew their protest, and bus services began returning to normal.

With the resumption of bus services, the Nathullabad and Rupatali bus terminals have become busy once again. However, passengers expressed their frustration, stating that holding common people hostage by abruptly stopping transport services must end. They urged both the administration and transport authorities to act more responsibly in the future.
