Over 2,300 Still Missing in Nepal's Devastating Floods

Heavy rains over the past few days have triggered devastating floods and landslides across Nepal. Many villages and towns have been submerged by flash floods. Reports indicate that 2,362 people remain missing, prompting a massive search and rescue operation in the affected areas.

Local authorities reported that river levels in various parts of the country, including the capital Kathmandu, are flowing above the danger mark. The sudden floods have swept away hundreds of homes and blocked major highways, completely cutting off communication with remote mountainous regions and hindering rescue efforts.

In response, the Nepalese Army, police, and local volunteers are working together to manage the crisis. Affected residents are being evacuated to safer locations, and temporary shelters have been established. However, adverse weather conditions and thick mud are repeatedly disrupting rescue operations.

The meteorological department has warned of more rain in the coming days, advising residents in mountainous areas to remain alert. The government is coordinating emergency relief and medical assistance for the affected population.
