Deep Knowledge of Law and Cases Essential to Be a Good Lawyer: Chief Prosecutor

To build oneself as a good lawyer, one must acquire deep knowledge of the law and cases. Chief Prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Mohammad Tajul Islam, said this to young lawyers. He mentioned that having a degree alone does not make a good lawyer; it requires regular study and hard work.

In a recent seminar organized in Dhaka, emphasis was placed on improving the professional skills of young and new lawyers. The Chief Prosecutor stated there that one must thoroughly understand the law behind each case and previous judgments. To succeed in the legal profession, one must constantly stay updated on new laws and court decisions.

Senior lawyers present at the event also gave various advices to the youth. They said there is no alternative to reading case documents thoroughly to provide correct legal services to clients. Presenting accurate information and the correct interpretation of the law in court is the main task of a skilled lawyer.

Finally, the speakers mentioned that honest and skilled lawyers are needed to make the country's judicial system stronger. If young lawyers work with honesty and dedication from the beginning, they will be able to make a significant contribution to the country's judiciary in the future.
