EC officials have confirmed that the necessary preparations for the polls have already begun.
Typically, local government elections in Bangladesh are held in multiple phases. However, this time the commission aims to complete the voting process as quickly as possible. According to EC sources, updating the voter list and finalizing the polling stations are in the final stages. The official election schedule is expected to be announced by mid-November.
Local administrations and law enforcement agencies have been instructed to remain alert to ensure a peaceful voting environment. The Election Commission Secretariat stated that all necessary measures will be taken to conduct free and fair elections. Local voters are hopeful that they will be able to cast their votes for their preferred candidates without any hassle.
Political parties are also keeping a close eye on these upcoming elections. While discussions are ongoing regarding which parties will participate, the Election Commission remains optimistic. They hope that with the participation of all parties, the elections will be held in a festive and peaceful atmosphere.
“Local government elections are crucial for grassroots democracy. The EC's plan to hold these elections in November will face challenges in maintaining law and order and ensuring the participation of all political parties.”
