Opposition MPs get far less allocation than ruling party: Jamaat Ameer

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has alleged that there is a major disparity in development allocations between ruling and opposition party MPs. He stated that opposition MPs receive nowhere near the amount of funds allocated to ruling party MPs, and this discrimination must end for the sake of local development.

Speaking at a recent party meeting, the Jamaat chief pointed out that the national budget is funded by the taxes of ordinary citizens. However, when these funds are distributed for regional development, people in opposition-held constituencies are deprived, which he termed as an injustice to the public.

Local citizens have also expressed frustration over this issue at various times. Supporters of opposition parties argue that regardless of political affiliation, development of roads and schools benefits everyone, so allocations should prioritize public needs over political identity.

Political analysts believe that equitable budget distribution is essential for the balanced development of all regions in the country. If the gap in allocation between ruling and opposition MPs is not bridged, underdeveloped areas will fall further behind. Experts urge the government to be more inclusive for overall national progress.
