Labor leader arrested over rape of female worker in Gazipur

Police have arrested a local labor leader in Gazipur on charges of raping a female garment worker. The arrest took place last night in the Sreepur area of Gazipur. Police took swift action after the victim filed a written complaint at the local police station, sparking widespread discussion in the area.

According to the police, the accused used to identify himself as a leader of a local labor organization. The victim works in a garment factory in the area. The case statement mentions that she was lured under the pretext of work and then forcibly raped. Following the incident, the victim went to the police station to report the matter.

The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sreepur Police Station stated that police launched a drive immediately after receiving the complaint. The accused was arrested from his residence. The victim has been sent to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for a medical examination.
