High Court orders probe into corruption allegations against Shawkat Ali

The High Court has directed the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to quickly dispose of the application seeking an investigation into the allegations of acquiring illegal wealth against former official Shawkat Ali. A division bench of the High Court passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed in this regard.

Earlier, an application was submitted to the ACC detailing allegations of massive illegal wealth accumulation by Shawkat Ali. However, as no visible action was taken on the application for a long time, the aggrieved party filed a writ petition in the High Court. The petition alleged that the accused amassed huge wealth by abusing power, which requires a proper investigation.

During the hearing, the petitioner's lawyer argued that under the country's laws, any allegation of corruption should be investigated promptly. If the ACC keeps applications pending, it diminishes public trust in the justice system. On the other hand, the ACC's counsel stated that they review all complaints systematically and will take legal steps accordingly.

Following the High Court's directive, the ACC must now dispose of the application within a specified timeframe. This order paves the way for verifying whether the allegations against Shawkat Ali hold any truth. Citizens hope that the investigation process will begin swiftly and the truth will be revealed.
