Disappearance investigations must not be politically motivated: Tuli

Sanjida Islam Tuli, coordinator of the platform 'Mayer Daak', has spoken out regarding the activities of the newly formed commission to investigate enforced disappearances. She emphasized that no allegation of disappearance should be viewed through a political lens. The truth behind every incident must be uncovered without any external influence. Families who have waited years for their missing loved ones now demand nothing but justice.

Human rights organizations have long claimed that numerous people fell victim to enforced disappearances over the past years. To ensure a proper investigation, the interim government recently formed a special inquiry commission. While welcoming this initiative, the families of the victims still harbor concerns. They do not want the core objective of this investigation to be lost due to political shifts.

Sanjida Islam Tuli stated that many past investigations were covered up for political reasons. She urged that the same mistake must not be repeated this time. Regardless of the perpetrators' identities, they must be brought to justice. She also called on the government to provide all necessary legal and psychological support to the affected families.

Human rights activists also believe that the rule of law can only be restored if the commission's work remains entirely neutral.
