The PM's Information Advisor stated that there is no shortage of fertilizer in the country and sufficient stocks are available for farmers. He mentioned that the government has made all preparations to keep the supply of fertilizer normal for agricultural activities, so farmers have no reason to worry or panic.
According to official data, the country's warehouses currently hold more fertilizer than the actual demand. Fertilizer has been imported from abroad to meet the needs of farmers during the Aman and Boro seasons. At the same time, production in local fertilizer factories is being kept normal.
The Information Advisor warned that strict legal action will be taken against any dealer or trader who tries to create an artificial shortage of fertilizer. Regular monitoring is being conducted at the field level to keep fertilizer prices and supply stable, and no irregularities will be tolerated.
To keep the agricultural sector active and ensure food security, the government is emphasizing simplifying the fertilizer distribution system. Local administrations have been instructed to ensure that farmers in all districts can buy fertilizer easily and at the correct price.
“Maintaining the supply of fertilizer is crucial in an agricultural country like Bangladesh. While the government's assurance will comfort farmers, strict monitoring is required to prevent dealer syndicates and artificial shortages at the field level.”
