Bhutanese King makes stopover in Dhaka, meets President

Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck made a brief stopover in Dhaka. Upon his arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin welcomed him warmly with a flower bouquet. The two leaders exchanged greetings in a very cordial atmosphere.

Airport sources said the King of Bhutan made this stopover in Dhaka on his way to another country. A brief meeting was held between the President and the Bhutanese King at the airport's VVIP lounge. During the meeting, they recalled the long-standing friendship between the two nations and discussed various aspects of bilateral communication.

During the discussion, President Mohammed Shahabuddin highlighted that the relationship between Bangladesh and Bhutan has always been excellent. He noted that there are immense opportunities for cooperation in trade, tourism, and the power sector. The Bhutanese King appreciated Bangladesh's hospitality and expressed hope for stronger ties.

This brief visit is expected to further strengthen the relationship between the two neighboring countries. Both nations stand to benefit, particularly in the areas of trade and connectivity. Following the meeting, the Bhutanese King departed for his destination, bid farewell by the President.
