A housewife died and three other members of the same family fell seriously ill after consuming stale food in Shibganj upazila of Bogura. The deceased was identified as Mina Begum, aged around 30. The sick family members were rushed to a local hospital for emergency treatment.
According to local residents and police, the family members ate leftover food from the previous day for dinner. Shortly after eating, they began experiencing severe stomach pain and vomiting. As Mina Begum's condition deteriorated rapidly in the early morning, she passed away before reaching the hospital.
Upon receiving the news, local police visited the spot to investigate the incident. Medical officers stated that food poisoning from the stale food was the likely cause of death and illness. Samples of the food have been collected for laboratory testing to determine the exact cause.
Doctors have warned the public against consuming stale or leftover food, especially during hot weather, as it poses severe health risks. A pall of gloom has descended on the area following the tragic incident, and police said further legal steps will be taken after the investigation.
