Teacher shortage hits Rajarhat Government College in Kurigram

Rajarhat Government College in Kurigram has been struggling with a severe shortage of teaching staff for a long time. Currently, only 28 teachers are working against 60 sanctioned posts. With 32 positions lying vacant, the college administration is facing immense difficulties in running daily academic activities.

According to local sources, thousands of students are enrolled in this college. However, due to the lack of teachers, regular classes for many subjects cannot be held. Crucial subjects in the science and humanities departments are completely without teachers, leaving students in a helpless situation.

Students complain that they cannot prepare well for exams as classes are not held regularly. Many are forced to seek private tutoring outside. The college administration stated that they have repeatedly written to the Ministry of Education and relevant authorities to fill the vacant posts, but no new teachers have been appointed yet.

Local citizens and guardians have demanded immediate recruitment of teachers at the college. They emphasized that to maintain the quality of education at this rural government college, the vacant posts must be filled quickly. Otherwise, the higher education of students from low-income families will be at risk.
