A madrasa student was killed after being hit by a speeding bus while crossing the road in Dhaka's Jatrabari area. The accident took place this morning. Following the incident, local residents and fellow students blocked the road to protest the tragic death, halting traffic for some time.
According to eyewitnesses, the student was crossing the road on her way to the madrasa when a reckless bus hit her. She was rescued in critical condition and rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
As the news of the death spread, students from the madrasa and local residents gathered on the street. They chanted slogans demanding safer roads and exemplary punishment for the driver. Police quickly arrived at the scene to calm the situation and assured action.
Police officials stated that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Efforts are underway to identify the bus and arrest the driver. Locals complained that accidents are frequent on this road and demanded a footbridge immediately.
