Doctor detained for practicing at private clinic during government duty hours

A government doctor has been detained for neglecting his official duties at a government hospital to treat patients at a private diagnostic center. The doctor, working at a government hospital in Comilla, was caught red-handed by the local administration while practicing at a private clinic. The incident has sparked widespread discussion, and locals have welcomed the administration's action.

Local residents reported that patients had not been receiving proper treatment for a long time due to the negligence of doctors at the government hospital. Poor patients traveling from far away were returning without seeing a doctor. Meanwhile, government doctors were regularly treating patients for money at private diagnostic centers right next to the hospital. The raid was conducted based on this specific information.

Regarding the raid, the local Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) stated that according to government rules, no doctor can engage in private practice outside during official duty hours. However, the accused doctor violated government regulations for personal gain. Following his detention, he is being questioned, and departmental as well as legal actions are being taken against him.

Health department officials stated that such drives will be intensified to ensure the presence of doctors in government hospitals. No negligence regarding the healthcare of common people will be tolerated. They also mentioned that regular monitoring will be conducted to ensure responsible behavior from doctors.
