We will not control media, but ensure responsibility: Info Adviser

The new Information and Broadcasting Adviser shared important views during a meeting with journalists after taking office. He clearly stated that the government will not curb media freedom or impose controls. The government's main goal is to ensure that the media operates responsibly on its own and delivers accurate information to the public.

On his first working day at the Secretariat, he discussed the current state and future plans for the country's media. He mentioned that the unnecessary pressure and fear previously imposed on the media would be removed. From now on, everyone can work in a free and open environment to present the truth.

The adviser added that media freedom does not mean publishing whatever one wishes. Journalists themselves must play a major role in stopping the spread of fake news and rumors. The government will not silence anyone with restrictive laws, but professional standards must be maintained by all.

He announced that necessary reform initiatives are being taken to make the country's media sector stronger and more independent. He commented that the primary goal of this government is to create a fair and free journalism environment through discussions with all stakeholders.
